Tuesday 5/30/23 ----As a member of the Leadership Northland Class of 2023, I was asked to complete a small project related to healthcare resources. I put together an informational booklet related to two powerful books, one on dementia and one on trauma. Anyone directly or indirectly involved in either of these two areas may find this resource very useful. Although I originally provided it to my class as a spiral-bound booklet, you may feel free to download the PDF version here.
Thursday 5/18/23 ----I express my terrific thanks to the Northland Regional Chamber of Commerce (Kansas City, Missouri) for the awesome privilege, pleasure, and honor I (along with my 31 classmates) enjoyed today. As members of the Leadership Northland Class of 2023, we graduated from this excellent program!
Leadership Northland was everything I dreamed it would be and so much more! It amazingly expanded my knowledge, awareness, connections, and leadership in the Northland and beyond. I especially thank the very fine lady who is the Business Services & Program Director, Teri Laverty, and the very fine gentleman who provided marvelous support to our class as a prior graduate of the program, Martin T. Rucker (Martin T. Rucker Development, LLC).
As a lifelong learner, I am always engaged in opportunities to "sharpen the saw." This program clearly helped me in that ongoing passion.
Thursday 9/15/22 ----Today I had the privilege, pleasure, and honor of beginning a one-year program offered by the Northland Regional Chamber of Commerce. I am now an official member of the Leadership Northland Class of 2023. In this exciting program, my class of 32 local participants will join forces to expand our knowledge, connections, relationships, and opportunities throughout the north sector of Kansas City, Missouri. Each month we will meet with key leaders in specific segments of the Kansas City economy such as construction, education, law enforcement, healthcare, city hall, philanthropy, politics, and nonprofit services. We will go through various exercises to enhance our leadership development. We will build high-quality personal/professional relationships with each other as we contribute in various ways to our community.
A genuine leader is never “finished.” Although I have thoroughly appreciated countless opportunities to develop my leadership in the past, I never consider myself to have arrived. I tremendously value the leadership lessons other people and organizations can impart to me.
In the last few years my leadership and my career have taken serendipitous new paths that I could never have imagined a decade ago. Yet I realize part of the reason those new paths materialized was the fact that I had been preparing myself all along as I continued to pursue leadership development. Therefore, I have a stewardship obligation to my future and to those whom I shall serve to continue passionately seizing every opportunity to refine my leadership. I clearly see the Leadership Northland Class of 2023 as a splendid opportunity to do exactly that!
Wednesday 11/22/18 ----What you have been experiencing here is my newly formatted Blog.reliableinsights.com. For numerous technical, stability, and editorial reasons, I chose to migrate the blog into a new software/server system to make several changes to the coding and formatting. You should still be able to locate all my previous blog posts. However, for consolidation purposes and due to some technical glitches, most of my pre-2014 posts are archived in the Blog Archives 2013 and Blog Archives 2012 pages. Also, on most of the older posts I apologize I am unable to rebuild the original photos for each one. Thank you for your understanding.
Friday 9/28/18 was the annual showcase of The Freelance Exchange of Kansas City. As a member of that organization, I was one of many freelancers presenting portfolios. Additionally, I had the joy of serving as one of three panelists discussing various aspects of working with freelance talent.
